For Skin and Scale

It's me, KoboldCard, back with the newest on my visual novel... There's a lot to talk about! This is a fantasy FVN. Here, magic is very real, and so are your favorite -generic- fantasy races! There will be a lot of variability in characters and scenes. Of course, I'm at the helm of this project, so you may get more than your fair share of dragon dudes~
But before anything else, this VN will always be available for free. As long as I am able to work on this, you can expect to receive updates.

Novel Overview

Martin and Reidruss, our two main characters, find a common reason to need to escape in search for a better life. Unfortunately, the baggage of their previous lives is more than ready to weigh them down, in more ways than one. Content will focus on M/M and anthro, or at least non-human, encounters. Much of this will be erotic in nature, so this VN is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. There will be good times, and bad ends.

This will be primarily linear. Decisions the player makes will open and close doors that have consequences for our dear main characters and those around them. There aren't overarching branching paths, but there are lasting consequences. Our first release will be the prologue - the calm before the storm. Things will only get more intense ~and spicy~ from here.

Character Previews

This visual novel will be full of all sorts of fantasy characters and races. From orcs to werewolves to kobolds, and many things in between!
As the story progresses, you swap between both the main characters' thoughts as they experience and persevere hardships... or succumb to them.

Reidruss
Here's our stalwart dragonkin with an apt sense of personality and expressively wry attributes. His goals are noble, but he knows he's not immune to corruption. What led him to living surrounded by humans so far away from home is a well kept secret nobody has earned.

Martin
A compassionate one, hes not got the heart to leave the needy in need. Lacking anyone to call a friend, he's more than happy to look for an excuse to ditch his terrible town, but for the time being a sense of duty binds him down. When will someone come along to release him?

Artists

Since the start of the year I have been looking for great artists to collaborate with. And as it turns out, I had trouble just picking one sprite artist and one CG artist... there are a lot, with plans on more to come! All of these artists have a distinct style, but together we've been able to still make something that works. The following artists are either currently working on sprites, scenes, or plan on starting soon:

  I was extremely fortunate that he was able to commit to such a long-term project! His stuff is seriously quality, and he really deserves more recognition. Vivid has been a great help with designing our two protagonists.
• Eruprior, a CG artist! Eruprior (FurAffinity), @eruprior (Twitter)
  This lad has a healthy obsession with a certain souls-like wolf. I plan on channeling this ;). But seriously, impressive work one of my friends simply described as Majestic.
• Risky, a CG artist! @BiskyRisky (Twitter)
  Another guy that I was very surprised didn't have a larger following. He's been a pleasure to work with and keeps impressing me! He also was a force behind designing a certain trio.
• Axxon, a CG artist! @dendryte_axxon (Twitter)
  Unfortunately he could not get started right away, but I still had to get commission reservation for when he's ready. The way he draws scalies is just *chef's kiss*.
• Vinfang, an asset artist! poprocker566 (FurAffinity)
  In-between working on his own VN (check it!), he reached out to me and though his style is dissimilar to the rest of the artists, I couldn't resist finding him a spot!

User Interface

This VN is being made with Ren'py, but the goal is for that to not be very noticeable. I have some custom assets cooking that will go inevitably through some changes throughout development. For those inclined, I will make a post when the prologue's UI is ready. There was a lot of custom work done and I am pretty happy with how it has turned out!

The prologue is expected to be ready late April 2023, around one month out of this announcement! This will be patron-only access for two weeks, where then it will become public.
